Movement as they learn…

Let's begin with a story that occurred at the end of a recent school day. A student came up to me and said, "Mrs. T., we didn't do our, Yoga Family." She was proudly posing in tree pose as she stated this. The Yoga Family refers to the "Settling In" song we sing at the beginning of each of our Primary Elementary mindful movement classes.

Children need and want to use movement as they learn. If children are in the habit of movement as an integration, they will miss it and not hesitate to let you know. Movement and learning - things to know:

  1. helps students regulate their behavior

  2. assists with information retention

  3. boosts interest and motivation

  4. changes the central nervous system

Learn more about the movement and learning connection at one of our upcoming training sessions to implement the, M.Y. Time Program.
